The Sophisticated Caribbean
By James Ruggia
Sell Barbados by focusing on its diverse attributes

You may have noticed that Barbados is all over the airwaves these days with its “Long Live Life” campaign, developed by MMG Worldwide. The campaign puts the relaxed persona of the island on display, as it celebrates the island’s history, culture, food and music. The Barbados Tourism Authority’s (BTA) website at www.visitbarbados.org  offers a complete toolbox for tailoring a total Barbados vacation. The BTA recently added the Barbados “Trails” to the site, which helps visitors explore the island’s culture, history and landscapes via such self-drive tours as the “The Rum Runners Trail,” “The Faith Trail” and “The Water Trail,” to name a few. A broad diversity of hotels in all classes, great food, an extremely welcoming population, and perhaps the best preserved and presented historic legacy of any of the Caribbean islands make Barbados a great destination to sell, especially to those clients who want the sunny, relaxing beauty of the Caribbean, but with something extra. When selling Barbados, stress its history, Bajan culture and nightlife, the island’s beaches and physical beauty, and its exceptional accommodations.
