Cornerstone, Rearden Partner on Travel Spend Management

Cornerstone Information Systems and Rearden Commerce, Inc., which helps manage companies' spending on business services and created the first web-based personal assistant, have forged an agreement to make Cornerstone's Policy Compliance Manager available to Rearden Commerce's growing customer base. Cornerstone's Policy Compliance Manager automates the costly, labor-intensive and error-prone process of securing approval for travel before reservations are ticketed and confirmed, whether travel is booked online or through a travel agent. Policy Compliance Manager also increases compliance by communicating policies to travelers during the reservation process. Rearden Commerce customers that select to deploy Cornerstone's Policy Compliance Manager will experience increased visibility and control over employee spending on unauthorized travel.

"We introduced the product concept at our 2007 customer conference and Rearden Commerce expressed an immediate interest" said Alan Minton, Cornerstone's vice president of marketing & customer solutions. "Both of our companies are keenly aware of today's economic environment and have been focusing on producing technology that delivers immediate and measurable cost savings while improving the business travel experience."

Policy Compliance Manager can identify a virtually unlimited number of conditions that trigger the need for traveler notification and/or trip approval. Email alerts are sent within minutes of booking to designated approvers. The alerts include a link to a secure web site where approvers can view trip details including policy violations. Approvers can authorize, deny or return reservations for further action. In addition, a complete audit trail is created so you can be certain messages are getting to the right people at the right time. Policy Compliance Manager makes it absolutely clear to the approver why a particular trip is non-compliant with policy and requires authorization (e.g. high-risk destination, price threshold exceeded for airline/hotel/car rate, non-preferred vendor, unauthorized class of service, lower fares available). This ensures that corporate security and Sarbanes-Oxley requirements are met, unnecessary trips are eliminated and available preferred supplier relationships are fully leveraged.
