Norwegian Cruise Line (NCL) said it is repositioning the Studio staterooms aboard its Norwegian Epic, set to debut in June, as the first cabins designed and priced specifically for solo travelers. The 128 Studio staterooms, which have a large common room, are being designed and affordably priced for single occupants with no single supplement charge.
Maria Miller, NCL’s vice president of marketing, said the growth in the singles market led the line to refocus its smaller Studio category. She said more than 34.8 million adults took a solo vacation over the past three years, but less than 5 percent of them went on a cruise.
The Studio staterooms complex, to be located on Decks 11 and 12 of Norwegian Epic, will have just 100 square feet of space but will be efficiently designed to include a full-size bed, shower, bathroom components and a window to an interior corridor. Ninety of the staterooms will be connecting so friends or groups can sail together. The Studio Lounge, which will feature a full bar and coffee in morning, will serve as a social gathering space for solo guests. Studio staterooms will be priced from $799 per guest and will be on sale starting Jan. 18. For more information, visit www.epic.ncl.com or www.ncl.com.
