Hillary Clinton Set to Deliver GBTA Convention Keynote Address

Hillary Rodham Clinton, a possible presidential candidate, apparently is going to be speaking to a wide spectrum of the travel industry this year, her first out of public service in nearly four decades. The Global Business Travel Association (GBTA) said the former U.S. Secretary of State and U.S. Senator is scheduled to deliver the Wednesday General Session keynote at the GBTA Convention, August 4-7, 2013, in San Diego, Calif. That will be slightly more than a month before Clinton speaks to ASTA delegates at the ASTA Convention in Miami, Sept. 17-19.

GBTA Forecasts China to Become Largest Business Travel Market by 2015

The Global Business Travel Association (GBTA) issued a new report that shows China is expected to become the largest market for business travel in the world by 2015. The annual GBTA BTI Outlook-China report finds that total business travel spending in the country increased by an average 15.5 percent per year from 2000 to 2012. Business travel spending is forecast to increase by another 15.1 percent in 2013 to $226 billion, while the projected growth of 16.9 percent in 2014 is more than twice the rate of the U.S.

Radius Promotes Hyland to CEO Replacing Retiring Vasiliou

Radius, the giant network of global travel management companies, has named Shannon Hyland as president and CEO, succeeding Chris Vasiliou, a 30-year travel industry veteran who has served as CEO since 2008. Hyland joined Radius in 2008 as chief financial officer and has also led the company’s supplier relationships.
